Dr. Amy Stockton, DVM
DVM
Dr. Stockton grew up in Riverton with her dogs, cats, rabbits, lambs, and horses.
She remembers times when she couldn’t get a veterinarian to answer the phone, and at age eight, she vowed to become a veterinarian and ‘never allow that to happen to anyone else EVER AGAIN!’
She attained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 1996. In 2001, she brought the first ultrasound diagnostics to Fremont County and constructed the clinic on Riverview Road.
The Stock Doc has been on call all the time since then.
Dr. Amy loves her team and clients like family and understands the strength of bonds that can form with our pets.
Dr. Miranda Townsend, DVM
Associate Veterinarian
Miranda grew up on a dairy farm in rural Fremont County, where she spent most of her days caring for the farm animals. It was no surprise that her dream early on was to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She received her degree from Colorado State University and promptly joined the Stock Doc in 2006.
Dr. Miranda was involved in a serious horse accident this summer and is currently recovering at Craig Rehab Hospital in Denver. We hope to have her back home soon!
Dr. Miranda continues to improve and wow her therapists with her wit and determination.
She will be home for Thanksgiving. Miranda will then head back to Craig Hospital for more therapy. She still has a long recovery as her brain and body heal, but if anyone can overcome this injury, she can. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Dr. Caitlin Blackburn, DVM
Caitlin Blackburn is Wyoming-born and -raised in Cody. As a child, whenever her nose was out of book, she was either on her horse, training the dog, dressing up the cats, or chasing the goats. Summers were spent trail-riding and white-water rafting. She felt called to be a healer early on, and always knew she would be a veterinarian. Her grandmother was actually a vet, graduating in 1956!
She completed her Bachelors in Animal Science as a “Poke” at the University of Wyoming in 2009. She graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. She spent some of her time training right here at The Stock Doc! After 3 years as a relief veterinarian in Fremont County, she spent the next 6 years in Cody at a small animal practice. She is very excited to be back in Riverton and close to the Wind River Mountains. When not working, she might be found at “the cabin”, cross-country skiing, rock hounding, or bird hunting. Her husband Brian, a civil engineer, has been her “partner in dogs” since high school. They currently have 5 dogs, with plans to expand with goats and horses as soon as more fences go up.
Dr. Caitlin loves treating all species of animals, especially dogs and goats. She also has special interest in the One Health concept — an integrated, multi-professional approach that aims to sustainably balance and optimize the health of people, animals and ecosystems.
Dr. Helen Wolfe, DVM
Helen spent most of her life in Virginia near Washington, DC. The veterinary life has always been her ultimate goal, and she wants to work with any and all animals.
Traveling intermingled with scuba diving is her favorite hobby and past-time. She’s a world traveler with time spent teaching English in China, conducting research in the Panamanian rainforest (complete with her own bot fly!), and lived in Australia for 7 years where she saw most of the country. She’s happiest in the water, day or night!
Helen joined The Stock Doc in June of 2023 after completing her veterinary degree at Murdoch University in Australia. Before that, she obtained her master’s in zoology and ecology at James Cook University in Australia in 2017, and her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Lynchburg in Virginia in 2010.
Helen’s main veterinary passions are exotics and wildlife, which she focused most of her veterinary degree on and included time with fish vets, marine mammal rescues, and zoo vets. She’s had the opportunity to care for a variety of wildlife, and also relocated snakes that were in people’s yards or homes.
Angela Weber
Angela grew up on a farm in Oregon. Her childhood revolved around showing cattle, riding horses, 4-H and FFA, picking strawberries, and helping her dad farm. This childhood helped secure Angela’s love for animals and agriculture.
In 2006, she graduated from Montana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Angela has also completed three courses in equine massage therapy and is a certified bovine artificial insemination technician.
Angela has worked at The Stock Doc since 2010, starting as kennel staff and working her way up to practice manager. She loves helping animals and seeing the staff at The Stock Doc flourish.
Angela and her husband, Steve, have two doctors who both share their parent’s passion for animals. Currently, they raise Hereford, Angus, and crossbred cattle as well as English Shepherds. Angela’s hobbies include spending as much time as possible on the back of her horse and helping her daughters with their many projects.

Mary Jo Schmidt
Veterinary Assistant
Mary Jo (or MJ as we all call her) has been an integral part and leader of the Kennel Staff since 2013.
She moved to Riverton 11 years ago from Missouri, where she ran a horse boarding stable. There, she cared for 115 horses, 200 cow/calf pairs, and 500 feeder calves.
She also spent four years as a veterinarian assistant at an equine hospital in Peculiar, Missouri. MJ loves coming to work every day to help nurse all the critters back to health.
Bailee Vargas
Veterinary Assistant
Bailee is a recent high school graduate and is currently a veterinary technician assistant while pursuing a certification through Progressive Hoof Care Practitioners.
She is passionate about working with animals and is excited to learn more. Bailee also enjoys writing and is pursuing a career in this area as well. During her free time, Bailee loves working with horses, writing poetry, hiking, and reading.
Jennifer Rogers
Jenn Rogers joined our Kennel Staff in September 2020.
Jenn was born and raised in Rozet, Wyoming. She has been married to her husband for 20 years after meeting at an antique 2-cylinder tractor club meeting. He was born and raised in the Recluse/Spotted Horse/Arvada area and grew up ranching with a cow and sheep operation. Currently, Jenn is working hard to feed her teenage son, a corgi, a barn cat, and two ducks.
She has animal experience from early childhood and was fortunate to work with large and small animals at the Animal Medical Center of Wyoming in Gillette for several years. She loves to fish and be in the miles of wild outdoors that Wyoming affords us. She also loves to create art in painting and pottery, is an avid cook and reader, and loves to crochet (if she can slow down long enough!).
Mary Ellen Roylance
Technician Assistant
Mary Ellen has worked off and on for the Stock Doc for over twenty years. She is the first technician Amy hired. The two women ran all over Fremont County in the van, taking care of animals in need.
Her family consists of a husband of over 45 years, a son and a daughter, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. They have always had a love of animals and have made pets out of some very strange animals.
Mary Ellen has a lifelong love of learning. That is how she ended up with three two-year degrees at CWC and many credits that didn’t fit in anywhere. As a youth, she was involved in FFA and 4-H. Then, as an adult, she taught art, horsemanship, all livestock, sewing, knitting, and all handicrafts. Like many who live in Wyoming, she enjoys the great outdoors, camping, fishing, rock hounding, gardening, and waterskiing, to name just a few. Some of her hobbies include quilting, knitting, jewelry making, lapidary, and knife making, and she is always up for learning something new.
Julia Wilmerding
Veterinary Technician
Julia was born in Switzerland with a love for horses and small animals. She moved to the US as a teenager and worked at a riding stable on the East Coast before moving to Wyoming at the age of 20. She loves spending time in the mountains and horse-packing all over the state.
Julia’s love of animal medicine inspired her to enroll in a Veterinary Technician Program. In April 2019, she started as a full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant and quickly worked her way up to becoming a Veterinary Technician.
Macey Mortimore
Macey grew up outside of Riverton on her family’s farm. Her background, education, and licensure are in education, where she has worked administratively for the past five years.
She now helps out in the back office of the clinic.
Macey and her husband have two daughters who LOVE animals! They also have two dogs who are spoiled rotten by the girls!

Kami might have made your pizza or pasta dinner while managing Perrett’s restaurant for the last 22 years.
Kami has acquired a plethora of transferable skills over the years. Her skills range from cooking, house construction, small repairs, gardening, plant care, lawn care, retail services, and pet care, just to name a few. She is currently learning new skills on how to care for your beloved pets. You might see Kami on your next trip to the Stock Doc’s Drive-Through Clinic. She can help vaccinate and deworm Fiddo or help with toenail trims. If you are feeling blue Kami can cheer you up with a plate of fresh baked cookies or some chicken soup. She believes in daily growth achieved through care, respect, communication, and love.
Come say hi, and if Fiddo is lucky, she just might have a milkbone in her pocket!
